Metaphors
Donald Davison wrote that metaphor is a dream work of language. It brings smth. forth in every text, makes texts diverse, dissimilar to others.

Epithets n. 9, 10, 11 show graduation of the anonym’s pressure in emotional way. They can be defined as clichés too, because of the well-known sense.
Epithet n. 6 has two interpretations 1) real calm atmosphere before the fire-place and this calmness burns the anxiety of the letter; 2) he burns it in his November fire of drowsiness. Epithet n.2 means more concerned with spiritual matters than with daily life. Walter’s compositions reflect his mental life.
All epithets show individual emotional attitude of the author and his protagonist towards the objects, facts. Moreover, they make narration emotionally replete and fast.
